All of Alan Moore’s Superman stories in one place ! The highlight here is the final pre-Crisis story arc from 1986, and its a touching and reverential tribute to the Superman stories from the 1960s and 1970s. If you’re familiar with Moore’s heavier works (Watchmen, V For Vendetta) this one will come as a surprise as its certainly lighter fare. However, its a great story and it clearly shows Moore’s expert knowledge of the Superman mythos of a bygone era. Character dialogue and interaction are absolutely spot-on. In every sense of the word, its the final Superman story, and the ending is completely logical – right down to the very last panel ! If you’re a fan of Alan Moore, you’re going to be pleasantly surprised, and if you’re at all familiar with the Silver/Bronze age Superman, you will love it ! There are two more stories just as good which Moore wrote in the mid eighties. A great package all in all !
